This sesshin will focus on Noble Silence: silence in body, speech, and mind. During this time together, we'll alternate periods of sitting and walking meditation. In place of a chanting service, we'll have a ten minute period of bowing. Meals will also be eaten in silence.
The retreat will begin at 7:45am on Saturday, April 13, with a brief orientation. Saturday and Sunday, we will begin zazen at 8am, and the retreat will conclude with chanting the refuges at noon on Sunday, April 14.
The retreat will be led by Karen DeCotis, a Zen Priest in the Soto Zen tradition, and the incoming guiding teacher of the San Antonio Zen Center. Karen will be available for practice discussion during the retreat: a sign-up sheet for practice discussion will be made available.
All spaces for this retreat have been filled.
Please sign up for the waitlist in the foyer at SAZC or by emailing info@sanantoniozen.org and you will be contacted if a spot opens up.
The programs of the San Antonio Zen Center are by made possible by donations offered by the members and attendees of the San Antonio Zen Center. We do not charge for our programs, but your donations ensure that we can continue to continue offering the Dharma to the San Antonio community.
