This retreat will celebrate the awakening of Shakyamuni Buddha. We will focus on Noble Silence: silence in body, speech, and mind. During this time together, we'll alternate periods of sitting and walking meditation. In lieu of a chanting service, we'll have a ten minute period of bowing. Meals will also be eaten in silence.
The retreat will begin at 7:45am on Wednesday, December 4 with a brief orientation. Sittings will begin each day at 8 am, and the retreat will conclude with chanting the refuges at noon on Sunday, December 8.
The retreat will be led by Karen DeCotis, a Zen Priest in the Soto Zen tradition and the guiding teacher of the San Antonio Zen Center. Karen will be available for practice discussion during the retreat.
