Caring For Our Temple

Caring for Our Temple

Running a Zen Center takes the effort of many, from ringing bells to gardening, to serving on the Board. None of these are accomplished by any one person, but requires dedicated work and are crucial to the well-being and continuing presence of the San Antonio Zen Center temple.

We currently need people to caretake the grounds and to tend the library. A large commitment isn’t required, but consistency is (leaves never stop falling in the backyard and books are always being checked out and returned!).

Work needed:

  • Landscape work: weeding, sweeping, raking, watering plants, weed-eating, pruning, etc.
    -1-3 hours / week

  • Zendo upkeep: sweeping and damp mopping the zendo, cushion maintenance, cleaning, etc.
    -1-2 hours / week

  • Zendo jobs: ringing bells, leading chants, ceremonial attendant, opening the zendo in Colin’s absence
    -1-3 hours / week

  • General cleaning: cleaning the foyer, bathrooms, and kitchen, etc.
    -1-2 hours / week

  • Online Maintenance: maintaining website, editing dharma talks, etc.
    -1-2 hours / week

If you are interested in generously donating your time to the San Antonio Zen Center or have any skills you believe would be of use and would like to share them, please email info@sanantoniozen.org to arrange your help. Thank you!
